The Department of Transport and Main Roads has begun works to upgrade roadsides on the Burnett Highway, from Goomeri to Gayndah.

The project involves installing guardrail along intermittent sections of the road, to minimise the severity of off-road crashes.  Tree clearing works will also be completed along this section of Burnett Highway, to allow for the development of a nine-metre clear zone either side of the road. Minor pavement widening will also be completed during the works, to provide a wider road shoulder.

The $3.3 million project is jointly funded under the Australian Government’s accelerated Road Safety Program. The Australian Government has allocated $2.64 million to the project, with the Queensland Government contributing $660,000.

If you would like further information about the project, please contact us at the details provided.

What to expect:

Roadworks will generally be completed between 6am and 6pm Monday to Friday. RoadTek is delivering the construction of the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of June 2021, weather permitting. Motorists are reminded to observe all roadworks signage when approaching the site and be aware of changed conditions, such as reduced speed limits and queued traffic, and adapt their driving behaviour accordingly.

The department thanks motorists and nearby residents for their patience and cooperation while these works are carried out.
