GREEN WASTE FEE WAIVER EXPIRES SUNDAY, 28 OCTOBER 2018…

North Burnett Regional Council Mayor Cr Rachel Chambers has advised that the release of North Burnett Regional Council’s Emergency Management Dashboard during Get Ready Week has coincided with major storm events and current rainfall… A timely reminder for North Burnett residents to Get Ready!

“Getting ready is all about being prepared for emergencies,” Mayor Rachel said.

North Burnett residents are encouraged to visit Council’s Emergency Management Dashboard to access resources such as the ‘Get Ready North Burnett’ guide to preparing for disasters and emergency situations, and viewing other preparedness material available online.

“These resources will help you understand how to reduce the impact of disaster and how to protect lives, homes and property – before and after disaster strikes. It’s important to implement your own procedures with friends, family and co-workers in preparation for when a disaster may occur,” said Mayor Chambers.

With this week’s storms generating a number of enquiries especially about tree debris, Cr Chambers advises that Council will waive green waste fees at local dumps until Sunday, 28 October provided the waste is lean and green.

“Council would like to encourage residents to be prepared and is working with residents to help minimise future storm impacts.  Exempting green waste fees is an opportunity for our residents to clean up their yards and to remove potentially dangerous vegetation.”
