Exhibition now on tour…

North Burnett Regional Council Mayor Rachel Chambers is pleased to advise that the ‘North Burnett – bringing remembrance into reality’ project, funded by the Queensland Government’s Queensland Anzac Centenary grants program, is now on tour.

“The project, developed in partnership with local RSL’s, historical societies, schools and youth workers provides a virtual reality interpretation of local First World War history and stories,” Mayor Chambers said.

Mayor Rachel Chambers thanked the Queensland Government for the funding and acknowledged that the project will raise community awareness on three different themes based on ‘Camp life’, ‘Family life back home’, and ‘Coming home’ through the use of new virtual reality technology.

“The virtual reality project will encompass audio and visual accounts, diary excerpts, archive film, photos and other memorabilia, and will allow the viewer to not only hear and see these stories, but to interact and engage with the footage,” Mayor Rachel explained.

“I encourage all community members to call into your local library and experience this insightful, educational and interactive exhibition commemorating local families, local history and local stories,” Mayor Chambers said.
