Monto CBD Revitalisation Update (7)

North Burnett Regional Council’s Works for Queensland (W4Q) Monto CBD Revitalisation project has progressed, with footpath works scheduled to be completed in approximately two (2) weeks, weather permitting.

North Burnett Regional Council Deputy Mayor, Cr Faye Whelan would like to thank all community members and visitors to the region for their patience whilst works in the Monto Central Business District are progressed and would like to remind all motorists and pedestrians to follow road and pavement directions and signage.

Cr Whelan said, “The footpath works are the precursor for the Monto CBD Revitalisation project which will encompass the replacement of sections of damaged footpath and preparation for the application of coloured surfacing; erection of new notice boards; up-grade of shade structure; installation of crossings and sections of kerb and channel with grated cover; pavement (road) repairs; and re-marking of roadway.”

Residents are advised that footpath works have been scheduled in the following stages:

• Stage 1 – Complete From the top northern side of Newton Street, from vacant land down to Mitre 10 (please refer to map, attached), for approximately three (3) weeks.
• Stage 2 – Saturday, 9 September from Mitre 10 to BOQ (please refer to map, attached), for approximately three (3) weeks.
• Stage 3 – Saturday, 30 September from BOQ to Café Delicious (please refer to map, attached), for approximately three (3) weeks.

Council appreciates that these works will result in substantial disruption to businesses and residents alike, however, wherever possible, this disruption will be minimised. If you have any significant factors which you believe Council should be aware of prior to the works, please contact Council’s Engineering Department immediately.

To expedite the project, works are scheduled to be undertaken on both weekdays and weekends. Council wishes to advise that there may be inconveniences to pedestrian and vehicular traffic during construction works, however Council will endeavour to ensure access to individual businesses is maintained at all times.

During this period, vehicular traffic will be reduced to one lane, with traffic only able to traverse on the opposite side of the road to the construction works. Appropriate signage and barricades will be in place.

Motorists and pedestrians are requested to travel with extreme care and responsibility, to drive / walk to the prevailing road / pavement conditions and to adhere to signage. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused whilst this work is being completed and thanks businesses and the public for their co-operation and patience whilst this work is in progress.
