Monto CBD Revitalisation update

Jul 19, 2017 | Front Page Feature, News

Following North Burnett Regional Council’s successful application for funding through the State Government’s ‘Works for Queensland’ (W4Q) program for regional councils to help stimulate growth and improve minor infrastructure across regional Queensland, Council received $360,000 funding for the Monto CBD Revitalisation project.

The original project scope was to include a reseal of the main street, along with an infrastructure upgrade to include parent parking and gutter / footpath upgrades for improved accessibility and safety.

Following community consultation with local businesses and the wider community in March and July, it has been identified that priorities will now focus on revitalising the Monto main street footpath rather than the road surface.

It is anticipated that works will commence in August and be of approximately three months duration.

Council appreciates that these works may result in disruption to businesses and residents alike, however, where possible, the disruption will be minimised. We trust that community members will find the completed project has improved safety and accessibility for pedestrians and be aesthetically pleasing. If you have any significant factors which you believe Council should be aware of prior to the commencement of works, please contact Council’s Engineering Department immediately. Council will continue to inform and consult with the Monto community during the progress of this project.

Upon commencement of works, appropriate signage and barricades will be in place. Motorists and pedestrians are requested to travel with extreme care and responsibility, to drive / walk to the prevailing road / pavement conditions and to adhere to signage. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks businesses and the public for their co-operation and patience whilst this work is in progress.

For further information regarding this project please contact Council’s Engineering and Environmental Services staff on 1300 696 272 (1300 MY NBRC) or contact via email here.

The Monto CBD Revitalisation project has been funded by the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland project.
