North Burnett Regional Council offers free disposal for domestic waste up to 1m3

Dec 4, 2018 | Front Page Feature, News

Did you know that North Burnett Regional Council is one of only a few Council’s which offers free waste disposal for domestic waste up to 1m3?

Since July 2016, when free dumping was introduced for North Burnett residents, there has been a significant increase in the amount of household waste taken to landfill?  This is fantastic, however we just want this service to be available for North Burnett residents only.  As an example, household waste taken to Biggenden has increased from 288 tonnes in 2015/16 to 587 tonnes last financial year and this trend has continued.

To ensure this service can continue, North Burnett Regional Council requires residents utilising the free waste service available for dumping of domestic waste for up to 1m3 to provide evidence of residency.

The cost of waste disposal is quite high and those customers who may not be local are being subsidised by ratepayers.  Residents should be prepared and take proof of residency on every trip to their local waste management facility, or be ready to pay $8 per wheelie bin, $12 for a sedan or $15 for a utility or small trailer.  See Council’s website for a full run down of fees and charges applicable.

For further information regarding Council’s Waste Management Facilities please see Council’s website, contact Council’s Environmental Services staff on 1300 696 272 (1300 MY NBRC), or email Council.
