Unlawful building works

Feb 7, 2018 | Front Page Feature, News

Did you know that most building work requires approval before it is carried out? This is as a result of State Government legislation that ensures all members of the community are treated evenly and fairly.

Council has become aware of many instances where building work in the region has not been approved and extends an invitation to all property owners in the North Burnett to contact Council to ascertain whether building work that has been performed on their property is lawful. Council’s Development Services team can provide the necessary information to assist in determining if your past, present or future building work requires a building application.

Council will be in contact with respective property owners regarding work that is currently known to be unlawful. Unlawful building work can affect a number of matters that you may not be aware of, such as insurance and workers compensation claims, public liability and the potential inability to sell your property.

Council’s Development Services team look forward to working with you to ensure any structures on your property are compliant.

For further information please contact Council’s Development Services team on 1300 696 272 (1300 MY NBRC) or email Council.
