Works at Claude Wharton Weir continues

Sep 17, 2018 | Front Page Feature, News

North Burnett Regional Council Mayor Cr Rachel Chambers advises that stage two of the Claude Wharton Weir recreational area upgrade has commenced.

“The second stage of the project, funded through Council’s 2018-19 capital projects budget will see the installation of a rock bar weir to assist with bank stabilisation,” Mayor Chambers said.

“September 2017 saw the completion of stage one of the Claude Wharton Weir recreational area upgrade, funded through Round One of the State Government’s ‘Works for Queensland’, which included clearing of overgrown vegetation, preparation of a grassed day area and building of a beach front by placement of a retaining wall adjacent to the boat ramp.”

Works at the site are scheduled to commence on Monday, 17 September and will continue through  to Thursday, 20 September, weather permitting.  The site will be closed to the public during this time.

Council appreciates that these works may result in disruption to the public, however, where possible, the disruption will be minimised.  We trust that community members will find the completed project has improved safety and accessibility and be aesthetically pleasing, just in time for the school holidays.
