Reflect, respect and celebrate the spirit of community on Australia Day 2023.  We’re all part of the story.

Australia Day Awards are the highest honour the North Burnett Regional Council have the privilege of presenting.  Nominated by their peers, the nominees are inspirational and generous community members who contribute their time, effort and skills to the betterment of their communities.

This year’s awards winners will be announced at our Regional Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony in Eidsvold on Thursday 26 January 2023.

The 2023 award categories include a Local Legend Award, presented to one person in each community of Biggenden, Eidsvold, Gayndah, Monto, Mundubbera and Mount Perry. The Regional Awards categories are: North Burnett Citizen of the Year, North Burnett Young Citizen of the Year, North Burnett Volunteer of the Year, North Burnett Community Organisation of the Year, North Burnett Cultural Award, North Burnett Sportsperson of the Year and North Burnett Service to Sport.

Our nominees across all award categories and towns include (and in no particular order):

9:00am: Awards and Citizenship Ceremony

The Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony will be broadcast live on Council’s Facebook page from 9:00am. The live stream broadcast enables community members who are unable to attend the regional ceremony in person, to experience the traditional ceremony from the comfort of your home and to share in celebrating with our new citizens and award winners. A recording and also photos of the ceremony and festivities will be available after the event on Council’s website.
