Council Meetings
General Meetings are held region-wide on the 4th Wednesday of every month, commencing at 9:00 am.
Decisions are made by a majority vote of Councillors and the Mayor. Councillors must attend all meetings (unless a leave of absence has been granted) and vote on matters as presented in the meeting agenda.
Special Meetings are scheduled as required.
Council Meetings are open to the public.
Deputations: Council will make time available at each General Meeting for public questions/ representations commencing at 9.15am. This is an opportunity for members of the public to make a representation on a matter in which they have an interest on an item which is before the Council for decision e.g. development applications. A deputation wishing to attend and address a meeting of the Council shall apply in writing to the CEO not less than seven (7) business days before the meeting. The CEO, on receiving an application for a deputation, shall notify the Chairperson who will determine whether the deputation may be heard. The CEO will inform the deputation of the determination in writing. Where it has been determined the deputation will be heard, a convenient time will be arranged for that purpose, and an appropriate time period allowed (e.g. 15minutes). Meetings proceed in accordance with the Standing Orders Model Meeting Procedures PRO-5005, which is a Departmental directive outlining the procedures for meetings of local government.
