The North Burnett Regional Council (NBRC) is calling on all members of the community to unite in a bid to protect the future of jobs and services locals rely on.
Tonight, the Council launched the first of six extraordinary “Between a Rock and a Hard Place” information sessions.
Mayor Rachel Chambers revealed councillors will stand united as they encourage residents to join them in an effort to tackle grave budgetary concerns.
“Our back is against the wall. We’re running out of money, we’re running out of options to save jobs, and we’re running out of time,” Mayor Chambers warned.
“We are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Our community deserves better. We’re hard working Queenslanders living only four hours from Brisbane, and we’re fed up with begging for services other communities take for granted.”
The first of the information nights was staged at Mt Perry and outlined ideas and proposed changes for locals to consider in relation to road maintenance, pools, waste facilities, libraries, showgrounds and mowing.
“Everyone is invited to attend sessions, and we’re encouraging as much community feedback as possible before councillors weigh up all options and sentiments to ensure a financially sustainable future for generations to come,” Mayor Chambers said.
The NBRC is also encouraging the community to support a petition targeting the State Government with regards to the adequate delivery of services.
