Welcome to the juiciest event in Gayndah’s calendar – the Gayndah Orange Festival!

More than 60 years in the making, the Gayndah Orange Festival honours the region’s citrus industry and celebrates all things zesty. Gayndah is well known for producing high quality mandarins, lemons, limes, oranges and grapefruit that are enjoyed domestically and exported all around the world.

The Festival kicks off with the Gala Ball held the weekend before the Festival. Pick a ticket up and enjoy a night of entertainment, glamour and the crowing of the Orange Festival Queen.

Gayndah Orange Festival Queen

Who will be crowned the next Orange Festival Queen?

There are plenty of things to see and do in Gayndah – spend the week recovering from the Gala Ball and prepare for a big Festival weekend by exploring the nearby national parks, enjoying the scenic lookouts, marvel at the heritage-listed bridges or wet a line along the Burnett River. For more inspiration see Visit North Burnett | North Burnett Regional Council.

The Gayndah Orange Festival is family-friendly, with plenty of games, competitions, music and fun shared over the 3-day program that has the whole community in mind.

Bring your main squeeze to the Wine and Cheese Night on Friday 25 of June at the Gayndah Art Gallery to enjoy the local artwork on display in the special festival exhibition. Entertainment by the Memphis Moovers will set the tone for the fun that will follow over the weekend.

Saturday is the Festival Day! Some of the must-see demonstrations and performances include the talented Aussie FMX riders, chainsaw carving, acrobatic and dance troops, a procession of decorated floats, plenty of music to relax to, or get your heart rate up in the “Citrus Dash for Cash” open for the fastest sprinters in Gayndah and beyond. Read over the full program here.

Soak up a spectacular golden sunset in Gayndah, bring a warm coat to stay for the dazzling Fireworks display and get ready to party the night away with Renegade Groove.

Sunday is all for the family to enjoy and take part in!

Gay Dan at the Orange Festival

Be sure to meet Gay Dan at the Gayndah Orange Festival!

What better excuse to sample the celebrated fruit of the weekend than in the hotly contested “Citrus Eating Competition” – this is one way to get your dose of vitamin C!

Another novelty is stepping up to the plate for the World Orange Throwing Competition. The stakes are high, the oranges are a plenty, and the competition’s current record is a massive 76.35 metre throw!

The “State of Oranges” Rugby League match pits rival citrus growing towns of Gayndah and Mundubbera against each other in fierce competition. May the best citrus growing town win!

Also happening around Gayndah for the weekend is the Museum Steam Up day where the heritage machinery will come to life. Gayndah Heritage Railway will be operating Carriage Tours on Saturday and Sunday at 8.30am and 2pm. Take a chance to see the works undertaken on restoring these spectacular carriages that have toured all over Queensland during their service.

Pack a bag, or the caravan, the Gayndah Orange Festival is an unmissable weekend of fun in the North Burnett celebrating one of the region’s most iconic and important industries. Orange you glad the festival is on again!
