Upcoming Exhibition “MY COUNTRY CORE” by Marlene Millard is to be hosted at the RM Williams Australian Bush Learning Centre.
“You may take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl!”
For Central Queensland artist, Marlene Millard, this is descriptive of why and where her inspiration to paint and draw the subjects that she does comes from.
“I’m a farmer’s daughter and my paintings are reflective of my background of growing up on the land. My love of horses has been life long and I began drawing horses as a young girl; over and over again.”
In this latest exhibition held at the RM Williams Australian Bush Learning Centre, a selection of pastel, graphite colour pencil, charcoal, acrylic and oil artworks will be hung.
“I like my art to tell a story. Sometimes the story is about good working dogs and how they manage the cattle or a dusty cattle drive and sometimes it’s the tranquility of a windmill beside a dam or the majesty of a bottle tree on the hill. Sometimes it’s about our native flora or fauna. I appreciate all of this.”
Officially opening to the public on Friday October 2 at 5.30pm, “My Country Core” will be available to view until January 6.
This is a great chance to take the opportunity to meet the artist and enjoy her works at the opening in a relaxed environment.
“I hope you enjoy viewing my work as much as I enjoy creating it.”
