The North Burnett Regional Council is thankful for over $3 million in Works for Queensland funding
from the Queensland Government since 2019, which has funded a range of important upgrades
to community facilities in the North Burnett.
“This program doesn’t just fund new projects, but also the maintenance and upgrades of existing
infrastructure,” Mayor Chambers said.
“This type of funding is so important to our Council. It provides some capacity to invest in our
regions essential infrastructure, so we can continue working on getting the basics right and
delivering quality essential services to our community like roads, urban water and waste”.
“We would love to see the Queensland Government continue this funding program for regional
Councils, to assist in filling the funding gap for Councils like the North Burnett”.
Works for Queensland funding made the following projects possible:
• Hall maintenance including painting of Mt Perry Hall, refurbishment of the female toilets at
the Biggenden Hall, upgrades to the Supper Room floor and installation of a new stage
curtain in the Mundubbera Hall
• Installation of new fencing at our cemeteries with notice boards to help visitors navigate
the facility
• Regional water mains replacements
• Heavy vehicle road network expansion
• Recreational area infrastructure upgrades including footpaths, upgrade to Mt Walsh toilet
block, Mt Walsh footpath resurfacing and shade, irrigation, and playground equipment in
our parks
• Tourism projects including roadworks to Auburns Falls, Zonhoven Park drainage and
landscaping, installation of the Mt Perry Walkway, solar lighting at the Mundubbera Ski
Area, Ban Ban Springs welcome sign and up-lighting at the Gayndah River Walk.
These projects were proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland
Program in association with North Burnett Regional Council.
