Star Ratings Australia have announced Mountain View Caravan Park in Biggenden as a Gold List achiever for Queensland Caravan-Holiday Park. Queensland Tourism Industry Council acknowledge this rating is a testament to the hard work and resilience shown by the entire Mountain View Caravan Park staff during a very challenging time. Congratulations on a wonderful achievement.
Water & Wastewater
Council’s Water and Wastewater teams are working to complete meter reading before the holiday break. Rate payers are encouraged to ensure their pets are restrained and that there is clear and safe access to meters, to assist in keeping our team members safe while they carry out this important task.
Biggenden Water Treatment Plant
Locals of Biggenden will notice that work is now commencing on the replacement of the Biggenden Water Treatment Plant and installation of a new raw water storage reservoir. This project is expected to be ongoing throughout most of 2023 and will involve many local businesses working with the Principal Contractor to improve the reliability of Biggenden’s water supply.
Auction of Land Due to Unpaid Rates
On 29 November 2022, Council conducted an auction at the Mount Perry Hall for recovery of unpaid rates. Nine properties were offered for sale, including one unoccupied house in Gayndah, two lots at Mulgildie, one small lot at Byrnestown and five lots in Mount Perry. Eight properties were sold on the day. The remaining lot is now available for sale by negotiation directly with Council.
Council is responsible for managing financial resources and ensuring recovery of rates and charges. This is in the interests of financial sustainability and maintaining sound Council service delivery standards.
When recovering unpaid rates and charges, Council will make the recovery processes as clear and cost effective as possible, be transparent with ratepayers regarding their payment obligations and the process used by Council to assist them to meet those obligations, whilst endeavouring to treat ratepayers consistently.
If you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact Council for information with regards to payment options. Council will not take any recovery action where a property owner maintains an acceptable payment commitment. However, interest will continue to be charged in accordance with Council’s Revenue Statement.
Library Programs During the Christmas Period
All libraries will be closed Friday 16 December, affecting Gayndah Storytime, which will not take place until the following Friday 23 December. Storytime at the Biggenden, Eidsvold, Monto, Mundubbera and Mount Perry Libraries will continue according to the normal schedule until Friday 23 December 2022. Storytime will start up again at all libraries from Monday 9 January 2023.

Council Facility Closures on 16 December 2022
All Customer Service Centres and Libraries as well as the Reginald Murray Williams Australian Bush Learning Centre will be closed on 16 December 2022 for the full day.
Office Closures
Customer Service Centres and Libraries will be closed from Saturday 24 December 2022 to Monday 2 January 2023 and will reopen on Tuesday 3 January 2023.
The Monto Art Group – Memories Mural
On Thursday 8 December 2022, Councillors Jones and Giddins attended the unveiling of the beautiful mural created by The Monto Art Group at the Three Moon Historical & Cultural Complex. The Mural which has been designed to engage all the senses, will be displayed at the Ridgehaven Complex where the residents will be able to run their hands over its surface and feel the different textures. The rocks are rough, the kangaroo is soft, and the tree leaves feel like leaves. There is also some amazing art done by Monto locals on display.
Parthenium Media Release
Council has released a statement in relation to the control of parthenium within the North Burnett region, where land holders are encouraged to actively manage and monitor the noxious weed. Parthenium is a category 3 restricted invasive plant under the Biosecurity Act 2014. It must not be given away, sold or released into the environment.

Concrete works and resealing commenced Monday 12 December 2022 and will occur for two (2) weeks at the following sites:
- Biggenden State School Frederick Street, Biggenden
- Burnett State College Pineapple Street, Gaynah
Line marking and signage works will occur at both sites in the new year.
