The North Burnett Regional Council Australia Day Awards are a celebration of the contribution that individuals, community groups and organisations make across our region. The awards recognise and pay tribute to so many of the special people in our community who continue to go above and beyond to help improve the lives of others.
Mayor Hotz said “The awards are a time to celebrate and acknowledge those outstanding individuals and organisations that have made a significant contribution to our region.
“Being nominated for an Australian Day Award is a great honour, and it is a wonderful opportunity for you to show your appreciation of their contribution and service across our diverse, friendly and strong communities”.
If you know a person, community group or a quiet achiever who makes an extraordinary contribution, say thanks, and nominate them for a 2024 Australia Day Award.
Nominations for our awards are now open, with seven regional categories to choose from:
• North Burnett Citizen of the Year
• North Burnett Young Citizen of the Year
• North Burnett Volunteer of the Year
• North Burnett Community Organisation of the Year
• North Burnett Cultural Award
• North Burnett Sportsperson of the Year
• North Burnett Service to Sport
In addition to the Regional Awards, a Local Legend Award will be presented to a citizen from each town of Biggenden, Eidsvold, Gayndah, Monto, Mundubbera, and Mt Perry, to recognise individuals right across our region, who make a lasting and positive impact in their local communities.
“I encourage you all to take the time and submit a nomination for someone you believe is deserving of recognition,” said Mayor Hotz.
“I know that our region has some incredibly dedicated and selfless individuals who continuously go above and beyond for the betterment of the community and in their service to others. This could be a friend, student, workmate, someone at your sports club or community association or someone you know doing great work behind the scenes.”
Nominations are open until 11pm, Monday, 13 November 2023 and are completed online – all you need is an email address. If you would like assistance to submit your nomination, visit our friendly staff at one of our local Customer Service Centres or Libraries, or by calling 1300 696 272.
Awards will be presented at the Regional Australia Day event to be held in Biggenden, on Friday 26 January 2024.
