Council is advising residents of the upcoming removal of the brachychiton rupestris tree, commonly known as a Queensland bottle tree, situated in Beiers Park in Biggenden.

Due to advanced damage within the heart of the tree and increased safety concerns, expert arborists have advised Council it is necessary to take this step to ensure the safety of all park visitors.

Council understands the sentimental value this tree holds for our community and wishes to assure residents that this decision was not made lightly. Council’s priority is to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for residents and visitors.

The removal is currently scheduled for June 17, 2024; however, this date is subject to change.

Council expects a new bottle tree will be planted as a replacement once the tree and its roots have been removed.

Council appreciates your understanding on this matter and requests that residents follow any directions from workers and observe any signage that may be on-site during the removal
