About the position

At the North Burnett Regional Council, we are seeking an enthusiastic, agile and community minded individual to join our Customer Service & Library Team, in a permanent full time position based in Eidsvold. However, Council would consider any candidates who would be interested in part-time work to share the full-time work hours.

Our Customer Service & Libraries Team serve as a vital link between our community and Council, providing access to essential information, a wide range of Council services and Library resources.  The team are committed to outstanding service provision and making your experience with Council as seamless and enjoyable as we can.

Our ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with a passion for serving our community, has strong customer service skills and possess excellent communication skills to liaise with a broad range of people.

No specific library or Local Government experience is required. Induction training and ongoing development will be provided to ensure you gain a broad knowledge of all Council Services and Library functions.

Some key duties are:

  • Provide welcoming customer service through a variety of channels including but not limited to face to face interactions, telephone, written, email and online services.
  • Accurately capture customer enquiries and requests, process transactions and applications for a variety of Council Services including taking payments (receipting cash, cheque, EFTPOS).
  • Assist with the day-to-day provision of library operations (e.g. joining new members and processing loans and returns) and support the delivery and promotion of library services and programs.
  • Carry out general administrative functions relevant to the work area which are compliant with Council’s policies and procedures.

To be successful you will bring the following:

  • A proven ability to provide a quality customer experience with excellent interpersonal skills face to face and over the phone
  • A proven ability to work successfully in a team, contributing ideas and supporting team goals
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary customer service and administrative practices and the use of computer software including the MS Office Suite of products
  • Current C class drivers’ licence (or higher)
  • Ability to understand and follow work practices and procedures
  • Eligible to obtain and hold a current Working with Children Blue Card

Experience within Local Government, relevant qualifications and/ or experience within a similar setting is desirable, however a strong customer service ethos, motivation to serve the community, a love of learning and drive to contribute to the team is paramount to success in this role.
