Current Emergency Management Information

Council will conduct an approved inspection program in accordance with Section 113 of the Animal Management (Cats & Dogs) Act 2008. North Burnett Regional Council resolved at its meeting on 13 March 2024 that a selective approved inspection program will be carried out on properties within the North Burnett Regional Council area, to ensure that dog owners are keeping their animals as per the requirements of the Animal Management Act 2008.

Purpose and Scope of Programs

To ensure that:

  • All Regulated dogs are being kept in accordance with the mandatory conditions; and
  • All Regulated dogs are currently registered as required.

Program Times

Council’s Authorised Officers, identified by Council Identification Cards and in Council vehicles, will begin visiting homes between the hours of 7.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday, from 1 June 2024. The program is scheduled to conclude on 30 September 2024.

Properties to be Inspected

Properties that will be inspected include properties within the North Burnett Regional Council area, where Regulated Dogs are kept.

Regulated Dogs are prescribed under the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008 and include restricted dogs, declared dangerous dogs, and declared menacing dogs.
