Reflect, respect and celebrate the spirit of community on Australia Day 2023.   We’re all part of the story.

Australian citizenship ceremonies are an important part of our nation’s celebrations, with more people becoming citizens on Australia Day than any other day of the year. On Australia Day 2023, thousands of people will become citizens at hundreds of ceremonies taking place across the country. Council is honoured to conduct a Citizenship Ceremony as part our Regional Australia Day celebration in Eidsvold on Australia Day, 26 January 2023.

Our new citizens originate from five (5) countries, including Germany, India, Myanmar, Netherlands and the Philippines and will join thousands of other Australians who are celebrating their new citizenship. They bring unique perspectives, skills and cultural diversity to our North Burnett community, to further enrich us through their hard work and participation in public life and we welcome them with acceptance and high hopes.

Mayor Hotz said, “It is a privilege to be part of such a significant day for our residents and one of the most special honours I have as Mayor. It’s an opportunity for us to warmly welcome our newest citizens to the region and acknowledge the importance of what it means to become a member of the Australian community.”

This Australia Day, gather with friends, family, and community to reflect, respect and celebrate our newest citizens in Eidsvold on Australia Day. “I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to join in the Australia Day festivities and also to take time and reflect on what it means to be an Australian citizen: our shared values, our national history, our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage, and our commitment to reconciliation,” said Mayor Hotz.
