Australia Day is a time for all Australians to reflect, respect and celebrate. Australia Day is about our ever-evolving story of our nation – our history, our lives and most of all our people. It is a day where we can reflect on the past, present and future.

“Over the past year our region has once again faced drought, floods, fire and personal tragedies that have seen our communities rally together and support one another. Australia Day 2024 presents us with a welcome opportunity to reflect on our recent challenges, appreciate those who put others before themselves and celebrate our region’s resilience and unity,” Mayor Les Hotz said.

Council looks forward to hosting our second Regional Australia Day event which will this year be held in Biggenden and we are pleased to announce, we have the privilege of welcoming Paul Dellit OAM, as our Australia Day Ambassador for 2024.

“I am thrilled Paul Dellit OAM is joining us for our 2024 Regional Australia Day celebration in Biggenden. Paul will present the keynote address at the event as part of his Australia Day Ambassador duties.”

Paul Dellit OAM is an accomplished actor, musician, director, and producer. With a career spanning decades, Paul’s outstanding contribution to the Arts Industry has been recognised through numerous awards including the Gold Matilda Award, Alan Edwards Lifetime Achievement Award, Centenary Medal and in 2017 he was honoured with a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM). “We encourage and extend a warm welcome to all community members and visitors from across our region, to reflect, respect and celebrate Australia Day in Biggenden. If you are passionate about performing arts, are an artist or emerging artist, we especially encourage you to join us and to meet Paul,” Mayor Les Hotz said.
