About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Business Analyst to join our team and work on a diverse range of improvement initiatives that will lead to positive outcomes for our organisation and our community. Reporting to the Strategic Relationships Manager and working closely with Council’s Executive Leadership and Senior Management teams, this is a great opportunity for the right candidate to take their career to new heights.

The role will have a wide focus, with the opportunity to eventually explore most aspects of Council’s diverse operations. While a key objective will be identifying and implementing evidence-based improvement initiatives for efficiency and user experience enhancements, the role will also adopt a strategic focus, working across departments and stakeholders to collate information and implement cohesive systems, strategies and controls. There will be challenges to navigate, problems to solve, and complexities to overcome, but there will definitely be successes to celebrate, projects to be proud of, and a strong support network to lean on. If you’re curious and inquisitive, and an enthusiastic go-getter who is ready to take your career to the next level, then we want to hear from you.

About you

Ideally, you will be an experienced business analyst (or similar) with a track record in identifying and leading cross-functional operational improvement initiatives. You will have a background working in a large corporate or government environment and possess a good understanding of contemporary corporate operations. You may have worked on finance, governance or software projects in the past, with experience in stakeholder management and evidence-based business case development.

You will have experience sourcing, transforming, and communicating data in meaningful ways, as well as evaluating the fitness of the data for its intended purpose. You are comfortable documenting processes while also capturing the information necessary to make measurable improvements to those processes. You will be an effective communicator and true collaborator with the ability to build effective and trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels, and you will always be prepared to dig beyond the surface to find the optimal solution for the wider organisation.

You will ideally hold qualifications relevant to process improvement, such as Lean Six Sigma. A degree in business, finance, or a related field is desirable, but significant relevant experience is just as valuable.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Analysing business processes, systems, and data to identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency
  • Developing business cases, requirements, specifications, and plans for proposed improvement initiatives
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure alignment and integration of change initiatives with business needs and strategic objectives
  • Managing and delivering operational improvement projects within scope, budget, and timeframes
  • Evaluating the applicability of contemporary enterprise practices and solutions, including software and automation as appropriate

Benefits of working at Council

  • Be part of a passionate and talented team
  • Competitive salaries, plus 12% superannuation
  • Generous leave provisions
  • Healthy work/ life balance
  • Rostered days off (RDO)
  • Professional development and training opportunities
  • Employee Assistance Program for work or non-work-related matters
