Calling all aspiring authors! Join Australian author, Annie Seaton, for a FREE writing workshop that explores what makes a successful fiction novel come to life. The session will examine different genres, tropes and categories, and the skills needed to craft an engaging story. This workshop is perfect for adults and youth aged 16 and above along with authors who have completed a manuscript and are now seeking publication. Registrations for this workshop are open! FREE 1-DAY Calm Suicide Intervention, an Australian QIP Accredited Program, delivered by Suicide Programs. Registrations close COB Monday 6 May 2024. LOCATION: Monto Shire Hall DATE: 15 May 2024, 9:00am - 5:00pm Learn how to understand, respond to and prevent suicide. An evidence based, Australian training program that empowers you to have a ‘CALM conversation’ about suicide, to reduce stigma, promote help seeking and save lives. CALM empowers participants to recognise and respond to suicide risk, and to support someone through stages of positive intervention, the development of a safety plan, and linking to other services for further help. Delivered training in a supportive, respectful and inclusive environment, accepting each individual’s differences, with consideration and adaptation for their culturally diverse needs. CALM helps participants to: 1) Recognise the five signs of suicide, 2) Make a positive connection, 3) Hold the space and deeply listen, and 4) Develop a plan for strength and safety. National Simultaneous Storytime

The countdown is on - National Simultaneous Storytime is almost here! Join us at your local library between 20 May and 24 May to experience the magic of stories, as we read this year's book, 'Bowerbird Blues' by Aura Parker. Along with the story, we will have all your favourite songs and rhymes followed by an interactive craft activity. As part of the fun, why not come dressed in blue! National Simultaneous Storytime is perfect for children under 6 years and their parents and caregivers. National Simultaneous Storytime, now in its 24th year, is a vibrant and fun event that brings children together in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, and homes around the country to promote the value of reading and literacy. 2023 was the biggest and most successful National Simultaneous Storytime to date with over 2.18 million participants at over 59,000 locations and we are aiming to make this year even bigger!
