Claude ‘the mowerman’ Harvey Fundraising in North Burnett

Claude ‘the mowerman’ Harvey is a dedicated and passionate volunteer for Bravehearts and will be visiting Gayndah, Mundubbera, Eidsvold and Monto between 25 July to 31 July.  Bravehearts is an Australian child protection not for profit organisation, solely dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse. Over the past 13 years, Claude and his lawnmower have become a regular fixture on city streets and he has trekked all over Australia.  His reason for such extraordinary endeavours is simple: “I want all Australians, in every town and village, to be aware of child sexual assault, and to ensure the many victims of child sexual assault (1 in 5 children before their 18th birthday) are believed and supported”. Claude has raised $1,356,336 so far with a goal of $2,000,000! You can check out his poster here. Claude will be arriving in Gayndah on Monday, 25 July.  If you see Claude around with his mower, stop by for a chat and help raise funds for a worthy cause!  You can follow Claude the Mowerman’s journey on his Facebook page: www.facebook.com/ClaudeTheMowerManMedia Contact 1300 696 272 | media@northburnett.qld.gov.au

“Artistic Endeavour” Exhibition – Mundubbera Regional Art Gallery

Mundubbera Art Gallery and Library 32 Lyons Street, Mundubbera, Queensland

More than 250 years after the HMB Endeavour’s voyage to Australian shores, an exhibition of contemporary botanical artwork is highlighting the contribution that the scientists and artists on this voyage made to documenting Australia’s biodiversity. Scientists Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander, together with illustrator Sydney Parkinson, collected over 1,000 species of plants and animals during their 70-day journey along the east coast of Australia. The Botanical Artists’ Society of Queensland (BASQ) has responded to this historical voyage by developing an exhibition of contemporary botanical portraits based on the plants collected in 1770 by Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander along with the scientific illustrations by Sydney Parkinson.                 Media Contact 1300 696 272 | media@northburnett.qld.gov.au
