Council would like to advise of a revised date for the public information session regarding the Bon Accord Bridge. The session will now be held at the later time of 5:00 pm on Wednesday 25 May, at the Gayndah Community Hall.

As residents would be aware, Bon Accord Bridge near Gayndah sustained significant damage during the January 2022 flooding event, resulting in its closure.

Structural engineers have completed initial assessments on the damaged bridge superstructure and deemed to it be unsafe. Unfortunately, due to the significant damage sustained and the constraints of the Council budget, there are no immediate solutions to repair or replace the Bon Accord bridge.

Council intends to leave the bridge closed for the foreseeable future with the current detour in place. A full hydrology assessment and non-destructive testing on the concrete substructure is required. This detailed assessment will allow Council and the Queensland Reconstruction Authority to make a fully informed decision as to the best value for money and long-term resilience options.

The current detouring via Wetheron Road will continue until further notice.

Council appreciates the frustration which the detour creates for drivers and is endeavouring to ensure the safety of the residents and road users.

If you have any further enquiries regarding the meeting, please call Council on 1300 696 272.
