General Meeting Recap
On Wednesday 22 November 2023, Council held its General Meeting in Gayndah. The 2022-23 NBRC Annual Report, Community Financial Report for 2022-2023 and draft Local Housing Action Plan (LHAP) were adopted. A report concerning the stairs at Mount Perry was discussed. Council resolved to investigate the cost of repair, which will be considered prior to a final decision.

Official Opening of John Peterson Bridge – Mundubbera
The new John Peterson Bridge on Mundubbera-Durong Road was officially opened on Monday 20 November 2023 by Assistant Minister for Train Manufacturing and Regional Roads Bruce Saunders MP and District Director (Wide Bay Burnett) for Department of Transport and Main Roads Brandan Clancy.
The new bridge is an essential upgrade which will improve flood immunity, being built to withstand a 1 in 100-year flood event and most importantly, improve road safety.
The project was delivered by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.This project was jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments. The Australian Government committed $20 million and the Queensland Government $5 million. Council thanks those who advocated tirelessly for the upgrade to this bridge for our community.
Cania Dam Road and Burnett Highway Intersection – Monto
Whilst in the region, Assistant Minister Bruce Saunders MP met with Council representatives and concerned residents to discuss the newly constructed Cania Dam Road and Burnett Highway intersection. Mr Saunders MP advised he will address raise the concerns of community with the Department of Transport and Main Roads. A response will be provided to Council in due course.
Washdown Bay Update
Washdown Bays within the region have been updated to house the following:
• Supplied hose with appropriate fittings at each facility.
• Signage will be installed to address:
– Public health and wellbeing in relation to the use of hoses and water.
– That removal of water is not permitted from a washdown bay as set out in Council’s Fees and Charges.
– That the pressure of the water from the system will not alter if hoses are cut/shortened in any way.
• Automated payment (Avdata) has commenced.
Existing and future washdown bay users will be required to activate an account and obtain an access key, by contacting AvData on (02) 6262 8111 or email mail@avdata.com.au. For further information on the AvData system refer to https://avdata.com.au or by purchasing a key through Council’s Customer and Library Centre.
North Burnett Show Holidays – Community Consultation
The North Burnett Regional Council is encouraging residents and organisations to have their say regarding the future scheduling of the region’s show holidays from 2025 by completing an online survey, which is available on our website. Community Members Invited to Provide Input – Draft Local Housing Action Plan (LHAP)
Council is currently seeking feedback from community members regarding the region’s draft Local Housing Action Plan (LHAP), developed with the support of the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) and the State Government. The plan seeks to communicate local housing needs and encourage collaboration across the various levels of government to support housing outcomes at a local level.
