This weekend, I had the pleasure of spending time with friends, family, and community to celebrate Easter and enjoyed the Mount Perry Show.  Congratulations to the Mount Perry Show Society for the execution of a full and successful show program on Saturday.  Council will once again be sharing a tent with BIEDO and SES on Saturday at the Monto Show. You can get involved with the show program from Friday, 22 April with the junior barrel races and rodeo, followed by a full program on Saturday and finishing up with the campdraft and working dog challenge on Sunday.

Sunwater is asking North Burnett operators, business owners, industry representatives and primary producers who currently (or will in the future) rely on water for irrigation, urban, or mining and industrial uses to complete an online survey which can be found here www.alluviumgroup.mysocialpoint.com.au/rwa-bundaberg-burnett/home.

Information collected will help develop the Bundaberg and Burnett Regional Water Assessment (BBRWA) program, which aims to deliver economic opportunity in the regions through investment in water.  For more information about the BBRWA and ways you can have your say, contact Stakeholder Relations Advisor, Prue Leng Prue.Leng@sunwater.com.au.

Council is continuing the process to recover overdue rates.  In accordance with Section 239 of the Local Government Act 2009 notifications of Intention to Sell were placed in the Courier Mail on Saturday, 16 April 2022 in relation to unpaid rates on 11 properties.  Summaries are available on Council’s website.  These notifications are the final opportunity for property owners to pay the outstanding rates and charges.  If these rates and charges are not paid within three months, Council will commence proceedings to auction properties.

Council’s Customer Service and Library Centres will be closed Monday, 25 April for Anzac Day.  A full program of Anzac Day commemorations can be found on our website and social media.  Council would like to thank the region’s RSL sub groups who volunteer and coordinate these events for our communities to remember and pay respect to our serving and fallen service people.

Youth Week with Professor Stupendous was a huge success with every session across the region being booked out.  This included 24 workshops over six towns with over 300 participants!  I would like to congratulate our Communities Team for executing the school holiday program.

Our Civil Works team are continuing to work across the region on different projects including maintenance grading, repairs, resealing and slashing on:

  • Goodys Road
  • Pine Mountain Road
  • Mount Eagle Road
  • Six Mile Road
  • McLeods Road
  • Old Rawbelle Road
  • Fernleigh Road
  • Swindle Creek Road
  • Cattle Creek Road
  • Albrands Road
  • Endres Road

Works have also commenced on Elliotts Creek Bridge, which will continue through to early May.  Details can be found on our website.
