On Wednesday 23 February Council will be holding their February General Meeting. To keep our community, Councillors and staff safe we have shifted these online to the Teams platform until further notice. On our website you’ll find the link to join the gallery, as well all agendas and minutes for our workshops and meetings.

Council will be holding the Citizenship Ceremony on Wednesday 23 February in Eidsvold. In a first, we will be live streaming this event on our Facebook page for family members and other residents who cannot attend the event due to COVID. I encourage you to reach out to your relatives and neighbours that may need assistance to ‘get online’ to watch this community event.

Once again it is rates time. In order to receive your discount, a reminder that these are due March 11. and can be paid in person, over the phone, online by Bpay or direct debit. If you have a question about your notice, you can reach out and chat to our team by calling the Contact Centre. Please be patient with your local Customer Service and Library team and Contact Centre as they will be busy with additional customer enquiries and payments at this time.

We have nearly reached the end of summer, but with warm days still ahead now is a great time to enjoy the recently upgraded facilities at Gayndah’s Claude Wharton Weir Recreation Park. The additions include new BBQ’s, safety bollards, freshly sealed car parks, and new turf. We are thankful to RuralAid who contributed $47,000 towards this project.

Currently underway are the Airstrip upgrades across many North Burnett airstrips thanks to funding received from the Australian Government as part of the Regional Airports Program. Eidsvold recently underwent work to create a safer and better-quality airstrip for our community and emergency services to use. The next stage that will be installed across Gayndah, Mundubbera, Eidsvold and Monto aerodromes is an animal-proof chain wire perimeter fence. Currently the Eidsvold airstrip is closed and without weather interruption, works should be completed by the end of the month. The other airstrips will have work completed during March and April but will not have any interruption to usage.

I will be in Eidsvold on Wednesday, 23 February along with my fellow Councillors. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me or your divisional councillor if you would like to address any concerns.  Our contact details can be found on Council’s website www.northburnett.qld.gov.au/meet-your-councillors.
