Last week we welcomed the QTC representatives and Fraser Coast Councillors and CEO to Mundubbera for a special Financial Management Workshop.

This one day workshop is for Councillors to further develop and enhance our skills in interpreting and analysing financial information. This continues us along our journey of working towards best practice on risk management, service levels and delivery, asset rationalisation and overall financial sustainability.

These workshops help build confidence in financial management and ensures our Councillors look at how assets, projects and service levels are determined and funded, and can then make informed strategic decisions in the interest of long-term financial sustainability.

Our Civil Works team are working across the region on different projects including maintenance grading, repairs or resealing on: Monal Road, Glencoe Road, Yarrol Road, Coonambula Road, Zoglauers Road, Reids Creek Road, Gayndah Mundubbera Road, Coringa Road, Emerys Road, Mount Goonaneman Road, North Dallarnil Road, Queens Street, Red Hill Road, Giles Road, Mount Woowoonga Road, Wilson Valley Road. Please be mindful to drive carefully in these areas and follow signs and directions from workers – we want to keep everyone safe.

The Community Events Calendar across the North Burnett is filling in with numerous events to connect, entertain and showcase our region. Here are a few to add to your calendar: Monto Races March 26; Eidsvold Cattle Drive – April 3-9; Monogorilby Camp Oven Variety Muster – April 15-17; Bogged at Beeron – April 29; our Agricultural Shows across the region are fast approaching in April and May. You can view the Community Events Calendar on Council’s website, and also submit your own upcoming event for inclusion.

For those operating businesses in the North Burnett, the Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation (BIEDO) are visiting Monto (March 29), Mundubbera (March 30), Gayndah (March 31) and Biggenden (April 1) on their Business Tour. This is a great opportunity to network with other businesses, ask questions and access support.

Councillors will be in Monto on Wednesday 23 March for the monthly general meeting. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me or your divisional councillor if you would like to address any concerns.
