Wide Bay Burnett Regional Waste and Resource Recovery Plan (WBB RWRRP)

North Burnett Regional Council (NBRC) has supported in principle the WBB RWRRP. NBRC has committed to the development of the WBB RWRRP, facilitated by the Local Government Association of Queensland and funded by the Queensland Government. The Plan identifies a series of actions to be taken at a regional level to assist individual Councils to improve waste and resource recovery outcomes. One of the benefits of being a signatory to this is that Council may have opportunities to seek grant funding for improvement of our waste management within the region.

Walking Network Planning

Council has endorsed the Walking Network Plan for Biggenden, Eidsvold, Gayndah, Monto and Mundubbera. Council was successful in obtaining grant funding to undertake planning for the five (5) communities.

Council has partnered with Department of Transport and Main Roads to produce Walking Network Plans, and priority works programs, for future capital works. The final report identifies potential footpath improvements in these five urban areas of North Burnett.

Audit and Risk Committee

Council has resolved to create an Audit and Risk Committee. Members of the committee include Cr Melinda Jones and Cr Dael Giddins, Mr Peter Cochrane, Ms Genevieve Dent and Ms Wendy Peebles. The Committee is an independent, oversight, assurance and advisory service to Council in the effective discharge of its responsibilities prescribed in the local Government Act, the Local Government Regulation and other relevant legislations and prescribed requirements. The committee has authority to review and make recommendations to Council on any matters within the scope of its responsibilities as outlined in the Charter.

During the week of 21 – 25 August 2023, Council hosted Book Week and Storytime events with dress ups.
