Agricultural Shows are highlights on our region’s calendar – showcasing the talents, creations and produce of our diverse region. There is something special about the generational tradition of catching up with friends and family at our Shows. With many challenges thrown at our Show Societies in recent years, please support our shows if you can. The first for the region is Gayndah Show, to be held this weekend. Council will be attending the Shows, sharing a stand along with BIEDO and the SES. Be sure to stop in and have a chat. Councillors will be in attendance at various points through the day.

The Community Events Calendar is filling with plenty of events across the North Burnett. Including one of our major events, the Eidsvold Cattle Drive, that started earlier this week. There is plenty of action to be enjoyed even without being one of the ‘drovers’ for this event, with a full schedule of family entertainment on Saturday starting in the morning and progressing into the evening.

Our Civil Works team are continuing to work across the region on different projects including maintenance grading, repairs, resealing and slashing on: Monal Road, Glencoe Road, Mount Eagle Road, Yarrol Road, Wild Camp Road, Rockmelon Lane, Goodys Road, Monogorilby Road, Zipfs Road, Gospel Hall Road, and Gayndah Mt Perry Road.

A resolution from the General Meeting in May 2021 was to call for expressions of interest (EOI) to determine the future for the Reginald Murray Williams Australian Bush Learning Centre. Through this process the EOI will gather interest on the potential for its lease or sale, and to conduct engagement to gather community sentiment on the future of the Centre. The EOI has opened this week with further information available now on our website – for interested entities please review our Tenders page.

Councillors met on Monday to hold a Special Meeting regarding the appointment of North Burnett Regional Council’s new Chief Executive Officer, Margot Stork. This responsibility has not been taken lightly, with an extensive search undertaken before making an offer to our preferred applicant. We look forward to introducing Margot to you soon.
