Governor General Visit to the Region
This week, we have welcomed Her Excellency the Honourable Dr. Jeannette Young AC PSM, and Professor Nimmo to the region. The Vice-Regal couple spent time visiting hospitals, schools and businesses, as well as meeting community members. We are grateful for the time that the Governor has spent in the region. The importance of visiting regional Queensland cannot be overstated, and we appreciate Her Excellency’s commitment. We also hope the Vice-Regal couple enjoyed their time in our communities. Water Restrictions
As bore levels are returning to normal, thanks to the widespread rainfall recorded during the past few weeks, Council is pleased to advise that water restrictions have been lifted for Biggenden and Mt Perry. All North Burnett townships are now on the lowest level restriction, Level 1: Permanent Water Conservation Measures. For information regarding water conservation, please visit Council’s website at www.northburnett.qld.gov.au/water-services

Bon Accord Bridge Update
The latest Bon Accord Bridge update can be found on Council’s website. Preliminary work to enable the demolition of the existing deck is expected to begin this week. Due to recent rainfall in the area and the resulting water level in Barambah Creek, a different approach to demolition has been adopted to allow work to continue in a timely manner. The demolition is now expected to be undertaken from the deck of the bridge itself as opposed to the dry creek bed as initially planned. Additional engineering inspections were undertaken to ensure the existing deck will be able to support the required machinery, and safety remains a top priority.

Significant background work has been underway to ensure the delivery of refurbished infrastructure, particularly the offsite construction of the bridge deck, which is currently underway. A tender is also being developed for the rehabilitation of the approaches to the bridge and is targeted for release in the coming weeks.
