North Burnett Transport Service Forum

Council, under contract with the Queensland Government (Translink), has been offering the North Burnett Transport Service in the region since 2008.The service provides comfortable, convenient and affordable transport options to assist residents and visitors wishing to travel to larger regions such as Bundaberg and Maryborough, with convenient stops encompassing Base Hospitals, train stations, transit station and local shopping centres.

On Monday 7 November 2022, Council hosted the North Burnett Transport Service Forum at the Mundubbera Community Hall. It was a successful afternoon, with Councillors Mesner, Giddins, Payne and Jones, over 25 people from the community and Council staff in attendance. The forum was very productive, with many helpful ideas put forth by members of the community, on how Council could improve the transport service. Council’s latest updates on the performance, customer service, communication and potential service enhancements which were shared with the audience, were well received, and discussions which emerged will provide the basis of a plan for developing the service further, in the near future.

Storytime Fun at the Libraries

Have you attended a Storytime hour with your little one yet? Don’t worry if you missed it at your local library, because it will be running weekly, from now on. Cr Dael Giddins was pleased to attend last Friday’s Storytime at Gayndah Library, which brought back memories for her, of reading to her child. Sharing stories and rhymes, singing, talking and playing is not just fun, but good for developing minds and brains. Check Council’s Facebook posts for Storytime days and times at your local Customer Service Centre and Library.

Over 150 Lions’ members from across the Q4 district came together during the last weekend in October to celebrate their annual convention at the Mundubbera Community Hall. Cr Dael Giddins and Cr Kingsley Mesner were some of the many guests at the opening who enjoyed a Welcome to Country and performances from the Eidsvold school’s Indigenous dance group. Council was pleased to support the event, by providing the North Burnett Transport Service bus service for pickups on Saturday night. It was great to see children involved in the event, with Mundubbera school students participating in the cake decorating competition and providing fresh tomatoes and lettuce which they had grown, to the softball ladies who made the sandwiches.

Attention Event Organisers – Mandatory Traffic Management Standards from 1 December 2022

We are currently in an optional period for traffic management for events, however on 1 December 2022, Traffic Management Standards will become mandatory. This means that all Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes will need to be in accordance with the updated standards from this date. This also means that some event organisers may incur a cost to update their plans to comply with the updated standards.  If you are organising an event from 1 December 2022 onwards, you will need to ensure that your Event Traffic Management documents comply with the new Traffic Management Standards.
