It was brilliant to see ANZAC Day commemorations across the North Burnett were strongly supported following years of interruptions by COVID. Thank you and congratulations to our various RSL branches across the region on coordinating these community events so that we can honour our veterans and remember their legacy. The spirit and respect shown by our youth and the next generation make me proud to see that the ANZAC spirit and appreciation will not be lost.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed attending our local shows at Gayndah, Mt Perry and most recently Monto over the weekend. The talents, creations and produce of our diverse region never cease to amaze and inspire me. Once again, Council is sharing a stand with BIEDO and the SES at Eidsvold Show this weekend. We look forward to seeing you for a chat if you are attending the Eidsvold Show.

As many of you would be aware and appreciate, the State Emergency Service (SES) are a vital volunteer organisation that are pillars of support in times of natural disaster and emergency situations. Our local SES groups are currently undertaking a recruitment drive. If you’ve ever wondered what the SES does in supporting your community this is your chance to ask some questions and maybe get involved. The training and skills as well as the friendship and comradery you gain are so rewarding and beneficial to our communities in times of need. For more information, get in contact with your local group at one of the upcoming events they are attending: Biggenden SES Shed Open Day – 30 April, Eidsvold Show – 1 May, Monto Library – 14 May and Mundubbera’s Leichardt Street Markets – 21 May.

Our Civil Works team are continuing to work across the region on different projects including maintenance grading, repairs and resealing on the following roads:
– Dooloo Tops Road
– Glencoe Road
– Mount Eagle Road
– Yarrol Road
– Bania Road
– Goodys Road
