Council recently issued a fine to a Mt Perry resident for carrying out development without the required permits.

The landowners were requested by Council to submit a development application for building works conducted on the premises, lodge a plumbing compliance application and pay the necessary fees, however this was not completed.

Council has now issued a court order for the landowners to comply with this request, or risk having to demolish the building.

“This unfortunate turn of events is an important reminder of the need for landowners to complete the necessary applications required for building work in the North Burnett region,” said Mayor Hotz.

“It is important for building and plumbing regulations to be followed to protect property and potentially save lives from buildings that are not compliant with safety regulations.”

Council encourages residents to contact the Development Services team in the early stages of building planning or if they are unsure about the compliance of existing structures.

“Our Development Services team can step you through any questions regarding planning regulations, the application process, relevant fees and ensuring that your structures are compliant. It is the responsibility of landowners to be informed of their legal responsibilities and follow any directives around compliance”.
