Welcome to what will be a weekly Council update from myself and fellow Councillors. I am providing this update as a direct line of open, factual, and transparent communication between our Council and the North Burnett community.

Councillors have started working closely with our executive team to develop next year’s budget, continuing to focus on delivering essential services and maintaining our existing infrastructure. The 22/23 Budget will be endorsed at the June Council Meeting in Gayndah.

Recently, Council made the difficult decision to postpone our 2022 Australia Day events. We have rescheduled our Award Ceremony to be in Mt Perry on Saturday, 5 March 2022, where we will present all Local and Regional Award winners in one location.
Council is mindful of COVID cases present in the community and not putting extra pressure on our local health services. With this in mind, we will be limiting attendance to award winners and their family only.

Council will be live streaming the award ceremony so that our community can watch and celebrate our worthy award winners. More information will be provided soon.

Council will welcome our newest citizens separate to our Australia Day awards, at an outdoor citizenship ceremony in Eidsvold on Wednesday 23 February 2022.

As the outgoing division 2 Councillor, I met with residents and ratepayers in Eidsvold last week at my regular community meeting. This community meeting has always been to provide an opportunity for the community to hear updates from myself, as well as raise any concerns. Thank you to those who attended, and we are working towards having your concerns addressed where possible.

Last week we received the welcome news that both the State and Federal Governments have announced funding commitments to restore Paradise Dam back to its original 300,000 megalitre capacity. Council looks forward to working with both governments during the restoration works.

I will be in Monto on Wednesday, 16 February along with my fellow councillors and in Biggenden on Thursday, 17 February.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me or your divisional councillor if you would like to address any concerns. Our contact details can be found on Councils website www.northburnett.qld.gov.au/meet-your-councillors.
