Heightened Risk of Ross River Fever
Queensland Health is warning of a heightened risk of Ross River virus infection across the state after surveillance activities revealed a sharp rise in detections of mosquitoes carrying the virus.

What can you do to protect yourself from a mozzie bite?
• Install or repair insect screens on all doors and windows.
• Use insect repellent containing DEET or Picaridin, to protect against mosquito bites.
• Wear long, loose clothing to help protect yourself from bites (light coloured clothes are best).
• Use a plug-in insecticide vaporiser (indoors) or mosquito coils (outdoors).
• Use a mosquito net when camping.
