About the role

As the Parks & Open Spaces Supervisor (North), you will lead teams responsible for the maintenance and enhancements of North Burnett’s parks, gardens, cemeteries, and public areas located across the north of our region.

Your duties include overseeing operations, maintenance, and capital works, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. You will manage safety practices, handle customer inquiries, and complete necessary administrative tasks, along with fostering a clean and efficient work environment. Your leadership is essential in providing our community with beautiful, well-maintained spaces.


About you

You will be a proactive leader with a passion for public spaces and be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Experienced in supervising teams and managing projects, you deliver excellent customer service. Your organisational skills and attention to detail ensure high-quality work.

You will be proficient with Microsoft 365, ensuring you can quickly learn Council’s systems. You will hold an unrestricted ‘C’ class driver’s license, White Card and you always prioritise safety and risk management.

You will hold a Certificate III as a minimum and ideally a Certificate IV in horticulture or Landscaping.


Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Completion of projects and maintenance works in accordance with the Parks and Open Spaces program and within budget.
  • Assist with the administration and reporting functions, including cost management, WH&S management and project management
  • Oversee the scheduling and delivery of relevant Parks and Open Spaces services.
  • Respond to customer enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Ensure work is carried out to approved practices relating to work site safety, tool and plant maintenance and Safe Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure work sites, depots, plant and equipment are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
  • Provide effective supervision and leadership to the team, and oversee work completed by contractors.
  • Participate in training and professional development to maintain contemporary knowledge, skills and qualifications relevant to the position.
