Council would like to thank those who provided feedback and suggestions on what the demained section of Mundubbera Durong Road should be known as.  After careful consideration of all feedback, Council has chosen to call the demained section Bourke Road.

Council was mindful of rules and protocols that should be followed when naming roads. These include:

  • Single word road names, as they are easier to convey in times of emergencies.
  • Unique road names to avoid confusion, as duplicate road names can delay emergency response times if the wrong locality is selected.
  • Road names that will not cause offense.

Council will now engage with landowners situated along the affected section of the road to update rural addressing and any other administrative necessities. We will ensure a smooth transition to the new road name while working closely with landowners to minimize any inconveniences.

If you have any questions regarding this community engagement matter, please don’t hesitate to contact us on 1300 696 272. If you require assistance accessing the feedback form, please drop into a local Council Customer Service Centre and seek assistance from one of our friendly staff members.
