The Queensland Government Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning has released a draft for the Wide Bay Burnett Regional Plan 2022 for community consultation.

“The purpose of the Draft Wide Bay Burnett Regional Plan 2022 is to set goals to attract and retain people in the region, promote workforce opportunities, enhance the region’s existing economic strengths, while growing emerging industries, and reinforce the region’s positive reputation for liveability and community”, explained Mayor Les Hotz.

“The plan sets a 25-year vision for the region that identifies what is most important for the future of Wide Bay Burnett, such as growing our people and places, taking charge of our economic future, and sustaining our environment and lifestyle”, Mayor Hotz said.

Mayor Hotz encourages all community members to have their say, “This is an opportunity for us as a community to build on our values and capitalise on new opportunities. The consultation process is a chance for each of us to help shape the plan. I encourage you to read the draft and respond to the weekly quick polls or make a written submission, if you can”, he said.

The consultation period will continue until Friday 24 February 2023. Information on the plan and the consultation period, as well as a button for the quick poll, can be found via this link. Submissions should be sent to PO Box 15009, City East Qld 4002 or via email to wbbregionalplan@dsdilgp.qld.gov.au

Community members are also invited to attend an overview presentation to learn more about the draft plan or to book a one-on-one session to discuss the plan with one of the department’s planners.

An overview presentation is planned for Monto in early 2023. To stay up to date with details about this session, go to the department’s community information session Eventbrite booking page, which can be accessed via this link.
