Reclaiming Space – Gayndah Art Gallery

Gayndah Art Gallery 34 Meson Street, Gayndah, Queensland

This Exhibition is about rediscovering the Exhibitors’ identity through repurposing materials that have been collected, stored and forgotten. Seinileva is a Ceramicist and a Weaver of Tongan descent, her craft is driven by strong connections with traditional materials, stories and customs. In her textile art, Seinileva uses scraps of jewellery, costumes and plastics to weave garments that represent different genera tions' styles of making. Seinileva shares this Exhibition with her father, Tuifua, who displays bowls that have been repurposed into kava bowls. Maintaining tradition through different materials.
