Oxford educated, he arrived in Australia aged twenty-three and set up Degilbo Station. He was the first European to settle in our district after the explorers. Squatter, pastoralist and controversial politician, Walsh died in Toowoong Brisbane 1888. Let’s celebrate the bounty of Biggenden and district by honouring the hard work, tenacity and vision of all the early settlers.
