Biggenden’s Big Weekend 13-15 October 2023 William Henry Walsh 200 th Birthday William Henry Walsh Esquire, was born in 1823 Berkshire, England. Oxford educated, he arrived in Australia aged twenty-three and set up Degilbo Station. He was the first European to settle in our district after the explorers. Squatter, pastoralist and controversial politician, Walsh died in Toowoong Brisbane 1888. Let’s celebrate the bounty of Biggenden and district by honouring the hard work, tenacity and vision of all the early settlers. Camerata in Concert will feature a 15-piece orchestra and a joyous program with works by the Italian Baroque violin virtuoso Locatelli, Dvorak's radiant Serenade for Strings, and more, including a brand new composition by Camerata's 2024 Emerging Composer-in-Residence, Alexandra Mison. Camerata will also be joined for some encores by local performers and community musicians.
